The tide goes out and
peels the water off the rocks like a molting skin. To the newcomer it all
just looks like exposed, barren, slippery rocks. To the veteran poke pole
angler, it is a habitat revealed, a brief world of possibilities. There
are fish lurking beneath and behind the rocks, waiting for something to
venture into the passages or slither through the fissures and cracks.
These are ambush fish, aggressive yet patient, opportunistic. You will
be angling within their ledges and lairs. . .

| To be successful at this you need to shed preconceptions and even some cherished notions or apprehensions. You will lose some tackle. You will lose some fish. But you will catch some fierce creatures who reward you with a good fight and, if you like, an excellent dinner. |
