BASIC TERMINAL RIGS USED

I designed these illustrations for the 2nd Edition of Pierfishing In California and was never given proper attribution.  You can guess how I feel about that.  


SURF RIG, also known as Hi/Lo. 
Perch~ Striped Bass~ Rockfish~ Jacksmelt~ Kingfish
Cut baits, worms, shrimp.
Leader 12-18" with separation of 6-12" between hooks.
Hooks are tied via palomar knots to dropper loops. See Knots.
Sinker type,  weight and hook sizes are variable. 

 
 


SLIDING RIG.
Sturgeon~ Flounder~ Halibut~ Lingcod~ Rockfish~ Striped Bass
Live baits, worms, shrimp.
Leader 18-24"
Hooks is tied via palomar or clinch type of knot.
Sinker type, weight and hook sizes are variable.

Perch (grubbing)~ Flounder~ Halibut~ Lingcod~ Rockfish~ Striped Bass
Live baits, worms, shrimp.
Leader 18-24"
Hooks is tied via palomar or clinch type of knot.
Sinker weight and hook sizes are variable. 

 
 



STROFOAM FLOAT RIG.
Standard bay jacksmelt set-up.
Leader 12-18" 
Hooks are tied via palomar knots to dropper loops
Size 6-2 hooks
Sinker type is variable; weight less than 3oz.
