THE
WEEKLY SHORELINER'S REPORT
http://www.songslinger.net/fishing.html
Summary:
Smack in the middle of a hot spell with low tides in the morning.
What's a shoreliner to do? Seek ye deep water in protected
rocky coves. Or if the wind is king near sunset, throw lures and
get in some top water action.
STRIPED BASS: San Quentin Point had a brief spurt of good plugging on Rat-L-Traps and hair raisers. Some of that has moved on, possibly to Point Pinole and Rodeo. Hard to say. Rumors of bass along the East Bay shallow shores from Emeryvile to Richmond are inflated by those who sell bait. Best bets are in deeper pockets away from the heat and glare. Or better yet, during the evening bite. Don't expect much until the weather breaks.
STURGEON: Lots of talk of activity in the Suisun and Montezuma regions, all boaters, and some word about South Bay back sloughs. But this is all verbiage and few are actually angling for the big fish.
PERCH:
A little warm for good fishing in the Bay right now and the ocean has lots
of clumped weeds tangling the shore.
MISCELLANEOUS SPECIES: Rays and kingfish in Richmond and rays and smelt at Fort Baker. Rockfish have slowed on the coast due to winds and weeds. Salmon are somewhere from California City and Benicia but not too active in the simmering shallow waters between. Halibut are also holding deep.
