THE WEEKLY SHORELINER'S REPORT
http://www.songslinger.net/fishing.html

Summary:  The water is low at dawn and murky all day long. Winds have taken a slight break but will return this weekend with the fog.  The bait fish--and many of the predators--have moved out of the East Bay shallows.

STRIPED BASS:  There are still some stripers moving into San Francisco Bay from San Pablo, but by and large the schools have congregated in the deeper waters from Angel to Alacatraz islands and then to the sea.  You have a good chance of getting them at Fort Point on hair raisers.  East Bay  is very slow right now.  South Bay has them on the west side from Candlestick to Oyster Point, with lures and live bait working.   On the surf it's touch and go, with many fish moving well off shore already during the current heat wave.

STURGEON:  The good news is there are good numbers in Rodeo.  The bad news is that the low water by day makes them hard to reach.

PERCH: The theater is dark in the bays until August.  Still not a whole lot going on this week on the surf.

MISCELLANEOUS SPECIES: The trend continues. Halibut are thinning out, hanging in deeper water from Treasure Island to Paradise.  Berkeley Pier is no longer a good shot at them.  Some are down by Oyster Point and Brisbane and can be enticed with lures like hair raisers or live bait offerings.   But tides and hot weather and bait have moved them into the depths.  Bat rays are mostly in the south but can be found just about anywhere someone puts down a smelly bait.  Sharks are mostly small in the smoothhound vein.  Look for jacksmelt by the gate towers.
