THE WEEKLY SHORELINER'S REPORT

Summary: Bright windy days have pushed the fish into deeper realms.  Where is the rain?

STRIPED BASS: Best shots locally are from Point Pinole through Crockett on all-white hair raisers or fishy baits.  You can soak bait and hope for a straggler but it's pretty slow in the bay system these days.  The Delta might be a good bet if you can find a stretch of shore still available for angling.

STURGEON: Tapered off until the next soild rain, whenever that may be.  Bay Farm, Emeryville, Rodeo are all slow but still better than most other spots.  Most fish are being taken at depths of 30 feet or more by boaters, and in the Suisun.  There was some red hot action going on at the red bar in Montezuma Slough on salmon roe, but it too may be slowing down.

PERCH: Sporadic, hardly worth the effort until the skies darken again.  Surf has been too rough to keep sinkers down.

MISCELLANEOUS SPECIES:  Little change in the mix. South Bay has the rays and sharks, though not really large ones.  Jacksmelt and kingfish are somewhat scarce, making appearances at the middle of the outgoing and then leaving the scene.  Halibut are all but gone now.  Flounder and sand dabs are beginning to show.   And still there are salmon in Benicia.
