Summary: Tell it like it is.  Shoreline fishing in general is feeling the curse of the minus tides in the morning, the glaring sun at midday, and the crappy winds most of the time.

STRIPED BASS: The only two places that have seen any consistent action in the past week are Marina Bay on blood worms, and Princeton on the jetty wall with assorted baits and lures.  Summertime local striped bass fishing is an individual pursuit in every since of the phrase.

STURGEON: Unchanged. The best chance is still in the Carquinez Strait from Eckley Pier to Ozol Pier.

PERCH: April 1 through July 31 marks the closure of perch fishing within the boundaries of the SF and SP Bays.  Pretty bleak on the surf, too.  But this is the last week of the ridiculous bay perch restriction.

MISCELLANEOUS SPECIES: Bat rays remain the top prospect and they are sporadic.   Jacksmelt are small but available at Fort Baker Pier.  Halibut seem to be hanging around in the deeper furrows offshore, though Berkeley Pier would be worth a shot for late season large loners.  Same with Crissy Field on artificials.

FRESHWATER:  No DFG plants this week.  EBRPD channel catfish plants at Del Valle, Chabot, and Shadow Cliffs.   Says it all.

DELTA RUMORS: Hot, windy, dull colors for the scenery and powerboats to top off a pretty bleak experience.  By day, that is.  The Delta is blossoming for night fishing and you should get there before it's too congested under the stars. Catfish are responsible for most of the smiles, and it's either white catfish on clams or cut fish baits, or channel catfish on chicken livers, live fish, or even a lure.  Stripers are pushing through the Sacramento River from Rio Vista to Sherman Island, and there are some big pigs in the mix. Live shad baits or lures have brought them in; so have cut frozen offerings.  It's not a run but it is a hope.  Black bass (kind of small) are frisky at dawn and a little antsy at dusk.  Crank away.  If you have to fish in the daytime, salmon are getting caught from Rio Vista to Walnut Grove on Wiggle Warts and spinners; the season is underway but the fishing is not all that great. Yet.  More anglers targeting salmon will give a better reading.  Panfish are hanging around pilings and docks.  Most are pretty small.
